Winter is nature's season of restoration—a time to clear away the old and nourish what matters most. Our Ayurvedic Cleanse works with this natural rhythm, guiding you through gentle detoxification that honors your unique constitution. Through customized protocols, daily support, and practices rooted in ancient wisdom, you'll transform winter's heaviness into clarity, vitality, and deep inner renewal.
Over the course of the fall and early winter season, the air and ether elements become more predominant in the atmosphere and this manifests in the microcosm of you. This increase in vata dosha (air and ether) may show up in your body and mind as:
gas
bloating
constipation
insomnia
anxiety
lack of clarity
sense of overwhelm
feeling ungrounded
dry skin
thin hair
and more.
The Refresh Cleanse uses traditional Ayurvedic methods to help you balance the air and ether elements in the body, allowing you to feel more stable and grounded within yourself. Through cleansing, people often experience great digestion, a clear mind, and balanced emotions.
reduce cravings
stabilize mood and emotions
reduce inflammation
reduce allergies
soothe asthma
increase energy
ease digestion
find optimal weight
build immunity
get better sleep
feel radiant from the inside out
get compliments on how youthful they look

The Ayurvedic cleanse has 10 days of active cleansing with a pre and post cleanse period of preparing the body/mind/senses before the cleanse and re-integrating yourself to a new normal after the cleanse.
1 Week before the Cleanse
This week is about kindling our digestive fire and gently beginning the detoxification process. Come back to true hunger and whole foods as you start to wean off of processed foods, meat, gluten, dairy, sugar, alcohol, caffeine, and marijuana or any other drugs.
Don’t skip this critical phase as it tends to reduce the likelihood of common cleansing symptoms like headaches, fatigue, pain, skin rashes, and emotional overwhelm.
Over the first four days of the cleanse we drink melted ghee, or clarified butter, on an empty stomach in gradually increasing amounts. Most toxins or ama in the body are lipophilic, which means they are stored in our adipose tissue or fat. Ghee has the magical ability to penetrate these fat cells and loosen the toxins lodged there! Each day you will massage yourself with warm oil, moving from the periphery towards the heart, in order to facilitate the movement of these dislodged toxins back to the gastrointestinal tract where they can be expelled once and for all!
Now that the toxins have returned to the GI tract, they are primed and ready to be purged. Purgation involves taking a laxative, such as castor oil, to support the body in clearing all of the accumulated ama in the intestines through multiple bowel movements.
After purgation and a day of rest, we do a series of herbal tea enemas in order to clear any residual toxins from the colon. These herbs are cleansing but also nourishing, which tends to leave you feeling light and clear yet grounded, as the proper downward flow of energy has been restored.
We take this time to slowly reintroduce the harder to metabolize foods and substances, paying careful attention to how the body responds at each stage and adjusting accordingly. This phase is of the utmost importance as it sows the seeds of who you are becoming.
We can imagine the cleanse as a time of turning over our garden and eliminating that which no longer serves us. What do you wish to grow and thrive within your being? How do you want to nourish and rebuild your cells, deep tissues and gut flora? Which habits do you want to carry with you into this next evolution of you and your life?
Revitalize with the Ancient Wisdom of Ayurveda and Yoga
Alex Rice graduated from the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, NM as an Ayurvedic Practitioner and began working for AyurPrana right after graduation. It has been one of the greatest blessings of her life to work alongside Dr. Vasant Lad, B.A.M.S., M.A.Sc., world-renowned Ayurvedic physician, author, teacher, and founder of the Ayurvedic Institute, as she supported him in his consultations both in NM and after the move to Asheville, NC. She also assisted him in his webinars and immersions the last six months in ABQ.
Most recently, Alex was the primary onsite practitioner at SoHum Mountain Healing Resort supporting clients before, during and after their panchakarma (PK) experiences, providing initial consultations to non-PK guests, and supporting Dr. Vasant Lad with his PK clients. Meanwhile, she was also seeing her own clients, moderating AyurPrana’s seasonal Home Cleanses, teaching the second year students at the Ayurvedic Institute, and supervising in the Student Clinic.
Born in Germany and raised in the U.S., Suzanne explores spirituality and healing through various traditions. She has studied Christianity, Shambhala Buddhism, and Tantra, earning certifications and initiations. She was led to yoga and Ayurveda for healing after a car accident. In addition, yoga and Ayurveda have helped her overcome physical and emotional challenges, such as PTSD, a deep vein thrombosis, and multiple near death experiences. Suzanne now coaches others on their healing journey with the Heart and Science of Yoga.
In 2014, Suzanne co-published "The Perfect Chaturanga," a book on injury prevention in yoga. She founded The Holistic Youth Project in 2013, bringing yoga to New York schools. In 2021, she moved to Asheville, NC and worked with AyurPrana, supporting Ayurveda and yoga education.
Suzanne has learned from many skilled and brilliant teachers. She continues to deepen her studies with Ram Lev and Jenness Cortez Perlmutter at the American Meditation Institute, where she also assists in teaching. Suzanne is grateful for the guidance she has received from these teachers and is honored to share the tools that have helped her and thousands of other heal with you.
We warmly welcome everyone, from those just starting their journey with yoga and Ayurveda to seasoned yoga instructors and practitioners. We are here to guide you gently into a deeper connection with your intuition, your body, and even your culinary space.
After enjoying the pre-cleanse call, we encourage you to ease into the detoxification process by gradually removing certain foods and activities from your diet and lifestyle the first week.
The cleanse itself is 10 days, but your experience of it and the depth varies person to person and even cleanse to cleanse. If you are able to prepare yourself mentally to be in cleansing mode for 10 days and have a gentle buffer zone the week before and after those 10 days to ease your body in and out of the detoxification process, that would be ideal!
Your supply list will be provided within your course hub upon purchase of the cleanse. These supplies are hand picked by our practitioner to help pacify accumulated vata dosha and rejuvenate you. We also suggest printing and trying out the recipe packets during the pre-cleanse phase. This way, you'll be well-acquainted with the foods and ingredients when the cleanse officially begins.
Many individuals find that they save money during the cleanse, as the cost of whole foods is typically lower than that of pre-packaged foods and eating or drinking out. Many items on the shopping list can also be saved for your next seasonal cleanse. That being said, we’ve created a particular shopping list with alternatives listed for anyone that is on a budget.
Certainly! We understand that with today's busy schedules, it might be challenging to join the cleanse on the scheduled live dates. To make it easier for you, all discussions and lectures are recorded and accessible online at your convenience. We encourage you to join the live calls whenever possible to connect with the group's energy, which can inspire everyone to reach their fullest potential. We will also continue to check the community forum a few times a day the week after the official cleanse ends for anyone who started later for any reason.
In an ideal world, we would all have the opportunity to retreat and fully rejuvenate, leaving behind our daily responsibilities, however we recognize that many of us will continue working and have family commitments. Although it varies person to person and cleanse to cleanse, the days we tend to experience more fatigue and/or symptoms of detoxification are during the official 10 day cleanse, which begins the second week (as the first week is preparation). Day 3 through Day 7 of the official cleanse would be ideal to have blocked off in your schedule Day 6 and 7 fall on a weekend by design, and Day 5 is technically a rest day as well.
During this traditional Ayurvedic cleanse, starting Day 1 we want to allow the flow of energy in the body to be going in and down, which is the path we want the toxins to follow. The more we exercise and engage our cardiovascular system, the more energy flows out to the periphery. For this reason, we encourage only gentle yoga practices

Please do! It's important to continue your medication unless your doctor advises otherwise. Embracing a proactive and potentially transformative approach to your health, while adhering to your prescribed medication and cleansing routine, can be incredibly empowering.
There are numerous benefits! Cleansers often experience increased energy, improved sleep, reduced stress, and lifelong self-care habits, among others. Many of our previous Refresh Cleanse clients have shared that they have been told they look younger. Most importantly they report that they have gained a deeper understanding of how to nurture and heal their bodies, which they can then pass on to their families and loved ones. These are invaluable skills that will serve them throughout their lives. These essential practices are rooted in the traditional Ayurvedic routine, or dinacharya. During the cleanse, we dedicate time to learning these practices, allowing them to seamlessly integrate into daily life.
Because of the amazing work your body is doing pre or post partum and/or in the process of breastfeeding, it is best advised not to do a traditional Ayurvedic cleanse. Pre-conception or after you’ve finished breastfeeding would be optimal times to consider a cleanse. That being said, if you wish to follow only the pre-cleanse dietary guidelines (no herbs) and hone in on the diet and lifestyle of whole foods, mindful eating, prioritizing rest and self care, that could be incredibly beneficial, and then you would know how to do a deeper cleanse in the future.
Yes and please don't let that discourage you. We guide you in how to gently wean off to limit the effects of caffeine withdrawal. During the cleanse, you'll likely experience a boost in natural energy while giving your adrenal glands and kidneys a chance to rest and rejuvenate. Many people find that cleansing significantly reduces or even eliminates their cravings for caffeine. It often fosters a newfound appreciation for the body's remarkable ability to generate its own natural energy without any side effects or dependence on stimulants. It's uncommon for individuals to return to their previous caffeine habits after completing a cleanse.
You can cancel anytime before the start of the cleanse with a 35% administrative fee subtracted from your refund.
